A Post About Music

I was introduced to a band. Well not exactly introduced, but I should say re-introduced to a band awhile ago by a friend. Upon re-entering their catalogue I quickly came to love their music. And that band would be Incubus. In the past few months this band has become my favorite. Why? Simple. Because the lyrics are the reflection of my very thoughts. Brandon Boyd is a fucking genius. The man has an understanding of the world like few others. Perhaps its all the drugs I am sure he has consumed. But his musical journey is powerful and profound. Take this one song for example.

Incubus- When it Comes

It's comin' around again
they're letting it out again, again.
It's comin' around again
they're letting it out again, again.
When it comes,
it comes abrupt.
When it feels, it feels like trading brains with an imbecile... for real.
Yes I feel emphatic about not being static
and not buying philosophies that are sold to me, at a steal.
Just when you thought it was safe to think,
in comes mental piracy!
To know,what I'm looking for,
cannot be sold to me.
I wish they all would stop trying
cause' what I want and what I need,
is and will always be free.
It's comin' around again
they're letting it out again, again.
It's comin' around again
they're letting it out again.
When it comes,
it comes unannounced.
And it feels like a matador is taunting me with his reddest red cloth and I am the bull.
Yes I feel emphatic about not being static
and not eating the bullshit that's being fed to me no more...
cause' now I'm full.
Just when you thought it was safe to think
in comes mental piracy!
What I'm looking for cannot be sold to me.
I wish they all would stop trying,
cause' what I want and what I need
is and will always be free.

A beautifully written song about the bullshit that we all eat and feed upon. We as a society have been trained to avoid the truth and to take whatever we are told as if it were utterly absolute. Which is exactly why the world is so fucked up in the first place.
