What I Saw Today

What I saw today was beautiful
A man who could not see
Guided by a child who could
She held his hand and led him
Down the path and under the trees
And while she walked she said
Dad, what you can't see, I relay

What I saw today was ugly
A beautiful woman and man
Strolling down the street
And as they walked she spoke
And he stopped and turned to her
The hand came down across her face
Whore, he said, know your place

The beautiful and ugly
Mere blocks from one another
A eyeless father, and a potential mother
One loved and one disgraced
Do you see what I saw today
Because it is everywhere, always
And today is just one of many days
