Let the children play, just let them be today
Innocence, in a little soul, always asking questions
Simple moments of clean joy, untouched by worries
Dancing with small bubbles, laughing at words spoken
So many deep questions asked- how do you answer?
Hear their laughter...
Why did he die? Why did you sit there and softly cry?
Curious minds, unspoiled by the harshness of the world
Repetitive tales that close little eyes in the middle of a day
Indifferent with gender and race- any child can hold hands
Any child can chase each other in circles- duck duck goose
Hear their wonder...
Let the children play, just let them be today
Unaware of stress and the deep messes we have left
No clue to the meanings of world war- despair and death
No knowledge of addictions from shopping to smoking meth
So many smiling faces- so pure- how can you not remember?
