As We Slumber, As We Rise

I remember,
and I ponder as I paint pictures
with the words
that come to mind
I remember
so tell me my dearest friend
When...?
When was it the beginning of the end?

Solitude causes you to seek solutions
to the puzzles that plague us
each night
as we slumber
and each morning
as we rise

I remember
words exchanged
I became a better person
Did we not change?
Did we not learn?

You were significant,
but were you special?
What was the purpose
of such a promise
made during the night?

Differences-
no doubt they exist,
but this isn't about attraction,
but the friendship that caused
true satisfaction

I remember
powerful moments
that define the ocean
of my thoughts and life's teachings
tell me;
tell me my dearest friend...

Can the sun be caught in the eyes of
a flying falcon?
Can fireflowers be frozen?
Can shades of black
be filled with pure colors?

Was it all a test?
A trial?
Or was it
a chance to learn and evolve..

Just because a flower has been plucked
doesn't mean that the others
who watched it
should be forgotten

The song is still the same,
but perhaps misunderstood
as waves soak into the wetsand
absorbing something profound
created from a friends bond
