Wings of Hope

Hope is the fuel of optimistic campaigns
fear is the artillery of maddened warships
clashing together to wage open conflict
our thoughts shall not become a victim
to this pessimistic cancer that has struck

The future is laid out in the bricks of today
cemented with past and present congregations
of troubled teenage wonderlands sung in songs
sketching sad stories on abandoned houses
covered with newly grown flowers of fortune

Simple moments immortalize the histories
written between friends and distant travelers
bravely going where our hearts and minds
dared not to take us despite nature's will
gracing us with her freshly rooted grasses

Hesitation to accept newly acquired destinies
in an ocean of savage serpent shaped rivalries
that have self-destructed our inner saints
who sacrificed their blood, sweat, and tears
to empower birds who carried wings of hope
