Waves churn and crash into the edge of the earth
hammering away at the sand, changing the face of the land
leaving eternal scars, that can be seen a million years
after the first wave surges forward
these are the scars of time
scars that shall not be forgotten
like a wolf biting into a sheep
tearing out a chunk of it's rear,
but losing its prey
hurricanes ravage the coasts
tearing out trees and destroying homes
displacing monuments and memories
leaving eternal scars covered by the media
scars tissue on page one of the book
friends, enemies, lovers, and haters
the women you loved always
even though.. in the end they betrayed you
the bleeding from wounds struggling to seal themselves
like a spider re-building a torn web
ripped apart by devious human fingers
scars of love..
scars of hate..
scars of seeded sorrow..
they shall always remain
tattered tattoos on the mind
permanent pictures on the heart
buried skeletons deep beneath the dirt
waiting for someone to unearth them,
and display them somewhere
for someone to marvel over
these are the scars of the earth,
and the spirit
scars that remain on the body
to remind us
of the battles we have fought
few won, many lost
a volcano erupting and covering the earth
hardening liquid rock into twisted statues
that stand proudly battered by time;
a reminder that God works in mysterious ways
these are the scars inked into the book
the wounds left by the fierce winds
that leave even the mightest of warriors
so vulnerable and so shook...
