At War

Destructive forces of chaos- with the tide they ride
The inferno of hatred and confusion residing inside
The piercing eyes of warrior spirits on both sides
Unfortunate armies- both of whom listened to lies

The fire rains from the skies- a shower of death
Loose limbs scattered on stone roads- houses burning
The cries of children hovering over their dead mothers
A soldier patrolling the dirt road- in his heart he bleeds

Explosions of shrapnel- weapons of unnecessary doom
Human flaws and errors- villages mercilessly slaughtered
Civil unrest- hatred for so called saviors- religious war

Firefights by the mosque- firefights by the schools
Soldiers just doing their jobs- supported by public fools
Acts of war- torture- policies that break the rules
Blood swirls through cracks in the dry dirt- stained

So many things happening- at war for foreign oil
To support the addiction needed to fill empty tanks
Those in charge sit at home behind global corporations

At war with too many enemies to name and recognize
While we bleed away- the world begins to despise us
How we have come to self police and plunder the world
Peace is needed- in the lands where the winds whip sand

Peace in the middle east goddamnit. I love the troops. I support them fully. I just don't support our policies and the current war itself. Bring the troops home!
